Legal & safety
Seller Rules
CornerPatch is designed for people and farms offering goods they grew, raised, harvested, baked, preserved, or otherwise produced themselves.
Seller-produced goods
Listings should generally represent goods produced by the seller or the seller's farm. Ordinary grocery-store or wholesale resale is outside the intended use of the service unless a future category expressly permits it.
Legal compliance
Before publishing, sellers must confirm they are legally permitted to offer the item and are responsible for applicable licensing, food-safety, processing, slaughter, inspection, labeling, storage, refrigeration, tax, and sales rules. CornerPatch does not determine which regulatory pathway applies to a seller.
Eggs
Egg listings must be for eggs from the seller's own flock. Sellers are responsible for location-specific egg handling, refrigeration, grading, labeling, and licensing rules.
Livestock shares
The Livestock Shares category is for pre-slaughter ownership shares in cattle, pigs, sheep, or goats. Sellers using this category must offer the share before slaughter and are responsible for applicable ownership-transfer, slaughter, processing, labeling, and recordkeeping requirements.
Do not use the Livestock Shares category to sell custom-exempt meat from an animal that was already slaughtered before the buyer acquired the share. Lawfully inspected packaged meat belongs in the Packaged Meat category.
Poultry, packaged meat, baked goods, and preserves
These goods may be listed when the seller is legally permitted to offer them. We do not require sellers to upload permits or processor records, and a listing does not mean the platform has verified regulatory eligibility.
Growing-practice statements
“Seller reports: No pesticides used” is a seller-supplied statement and must be truthful and supportable by the seller. It is not an organic certification. Do not use USDA or other certification marks unless you are authorized to do so.
Direct transactions
Use messaging to discuss availability and pickup. Buyers and sellers arrange payment and handoff directly. Do not ask CornerPatch to hold funds, guarantee payment, or certify the transaction.
